試験も終わり楽しいテト正月を待つ子どもたち
午前８時半、７年前に心臓の手術支援をした子どもの
父親がベトナム事務所を訪ねてくる。
１９９８年から４年間実施したＪＩＣＡ（国際協力事業団：当時）
との共同プロジェクトである障害児支援。
当時、フエでは心臓病の手術は出来なかった。
ホーチミン市の心臓病の専門病院で手術をするしか
なかった。フエ中央病院、フエ市立病院などを通して
６ヶ月位の命と思われる心臓病の子どもたち６人を
紹介してもらい、２ヶ月間かけて手術をおこなった。
幸い、全員手術が成功し、現在は普通の日常生活を
送っている。
当時、心臓の手術は３０万円位の費用が必要であった。
５人ともフエ郊外の農民。年収は１万円から２万円。
子どもたちの手術をするためには、１０年間ほどの年収
が必要だった。手術から７年。父親が当時のお礼に
来た。当時１３歳だった男児も今は２０歳。
ホーチミン市でミシン工として仕事をしているとのこと。
午前９時、障害児の父親が支援要請に来る。
１４歳の女子。１０歳の時に病気となり、小水を体内から
外に取り出し、袋にためているとのこと。この４年間で６回の
手術をしたそうだ。
最近、娘さんは「友達の目が気になり学校へ行かない」と
言い出した。フエ中央病院の話では体外の袋をやめて、
手術をすれば体内で処理できるようになるとのこと。
その手術代を支援した欲しいと。父親は３５歳。
フエの山岳地帯のふもとであるフンチャー郡で農業をして
いる。収入が低いので手術代がないそうだ。
フエ中央病院からの紹介でＪＡＳＳベトナム事務所を知った
とのこと。３月に再度、フエ中央病院へいくそうなので
その際、手術代がいくら位かかるかを聞くよう助言する。
その間に私たちがフンチャー郡の自宅を訪ね、
家庭生活の困窮度などを調査する約束をする。
午前９時半。昨夜フエへ到着した京滋ＹＯＵの会の水本さんと
フエ滞在中の日程など打ち合わせ。その足で、「子どもの家」へ。
水本さん、サンさんと一緒に。
「子どもの家」ではセン運営委員長がトイレ改修等の
お礼を言う。水本さんの寄金で１階・２階のトイレを
大改修した。また食堂の屋根の改修、電気関係の
設備等の総点検を行った。
水本さんは「子どもの家」の図書室の整理をしてくれるとの
ことだった。
「子どもの家」の子どもたちは先週１学期の試験が終わり
２月９日の旧正月（テト正月）を楽しみに待っていた。
１月３日に入所したタン君を訪ねる。
今日で丁度１週間。タン君は元気に生活していた。
学校にも通学している。担当のニエム寮母さん、同室の
友達ともなじみになってきた。子どもたちはこうして
孤独と寂しさと闘い成長していくものだと思った。
