夏休みに入った「子どもの家」
気温３５度。１日が終わるとがっくり疲れる。
「子どもの家」は事実上の夏休み。子どもたちはそれぞれ好きなことをして楽しんでいた。
左（図書室で読書）
中（オルガン演奏を楽しむ）
右（フールー小学校から奨学金のお礼状）
午前中、原稿を書く。
午後、「子どもの家」へ。
５月３０日から静岡市の助役一行がフエ市を訪問する。４日間の滞在だが、滞在日程の最終的な確定が出来ずにいる。今日も諸般の事情で日程確定が出来なかった。明日、午後２時から再度助役訪問日程問題でトゥアティエンフエ省関係者と懇談する。
午後３時、研修生派遣支援事業で派遣会社の社長と懇談。日本語教育の問題などを話し合う。
既に学校は終業式を終わり夏休みに入っている。
トンチンカンホテルに勤めている何人かのお母さんと話す。異口同音に「私の子どもたちは成績優秀です」とわが子の成績を自慢する。これは、ニュージーランドなどでも同じこと。日本では豚児などと謙譲するが、ベトナムでは、しっかりとわが子を褒めることはけして変なことではないようだ。これも文化と風習の違い。
フールー小学校の貧しい子どもたち３２人に奨学金を贈呈している。子どもたちからお礼の書き寄せが届いた。
